Jakarta – Not less than 9,000 Scouts and around 2,000 leaders and staff attended the Indonesia’s National Scout Jamboree which been held at Cibubur Scout Camp, east of Jakarta, the capital city of Indonesia, from 14 to 21 August 2022.
This the eleventh national jamboree after the many scouting organizations merged into one organization called Gerakan Pramuka in 1961.
While in the past national jamborees attended not less than 25,000 Scouts. This time there a special policy due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The total participants and staffs must reduce only 50 percents from before. There also a policy 1 Scouts 1 tent, not like before when a tent can accommodate a patrol of 8 Scouts.
There was also restriction for all participant, they should at least get two shots of Covid-19 vaccines. While the leaders and staff should have three shots, two shots added with one booster shot of the vaccines.
The health protocol also being strictly done in the camp. Even though, it not making the jamboree less of cheerful and happiness.
The excitement has been since the opening of the jamboree. The opening ceremony which also the ceremony of Indonesia’s National Scout Day on 14th August 2022, looks so lively.
Performing arts attractions, scout skills, and drum band performances from the Indonesian Military Academy
makes the event a very memorable one.
Moreover, this is the first time there is a big national scouting activity with more than 10,000 participants, after more than two years having to be cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The participants came not only from all the 34 provinces in Indonesia, but also from Malaysia, Thailand, Korea, and even some Muslim Scouts from the United Kingdom.
From the Asia-Pacific Regional Scouts (APRS), also attended the Vice Chairman of the APRS Committee. Dr. Somboon Bunyasiri, and the APRS Regional Director, JR Pangilinan.
The jamboree was officially opened by the Chief Commissioner of Gerakan Pramuka. Commissioner General of Police (Retired) Budi Waseso, attended by the Chief Staff of Indonesian Army, General Dudung Abdurachman, and several dignities. Everyone was very happy.
